Ms. Perez

Lorriane Perez

¡Bienvenidos a todos a mi salón de clase! Welcome to my classroom! My name is Lorraine Pérez. (Students know me as Ms. Pérez or Maestra.)

I teach Spanish level 1 and 3 and Honors 3.

I was born and raised in Sonoma County and I am an alumna of Piner High School, class of ‘98. Needless to say, I am a PROUD Piner Prospector.

Since my days at Piner, I have traveled extensively throughout Central America —working in orphanages, national parks and health clinics, only to find myself living in Costa Rica for three years where I learned Spanish and fell in love with the Latinx culture.

In addition to teaching Spanish, I have taught yoga for eleven years— recently teaching yoga at the Juvenile Hall of Sonoma County and for Piner’s after school yoga program. I am not a native Spanish speaker, however my journey learning Spanish has been long and driven by my desire to connect to mis raices latinas, my Latinx roots. I am here to support all my students both academically and social-emotionally. I look forward to meeting you. Please do not hesitate to contact me via Parentsquare or email, lperez@srcs.k12.ca.us

Je m'appelle (My name is) Maureen Cecil (Madame Cecil to the students) and I teach all levels of French: French 1, French 2, Honors French 2, French 3, Honors French 3, French 4 and AP French, here at Piner High School.  I have also taught English (9th & 10th grade), Life Skills and Film Studies.

This is my 12th year teaching and my 11th year at Piner High. I hold a Master of Arts Degree in Humanities with an Art History emphasis from Dominican University, a Bachelor of Arts in French from Sonoma State University and an Associate of Arts Degree from Santa Rosa Junior College. I have traveled many times to France, Europe and to South America.  I first got into education working as a substitute teacher, then working with student volunteers and finally realizing I wanted to teach. I have traveled with students to France, where I had a wonderful time exploring the French language and culture with them.
